The old-school way of doing strategic planning involves days offsite thinking big thoughts with your team. An expensive facilitator will work with your team to build alignment in your vision, dig into your strategic opportunities, as well as your liabilities. From there you may break up into groups, and do days of workshops coming up with big ideas, and then try to agree on beautiful language that will look great on the wall. At the end you have a huge invoice, a beautiful PowerPoint…but a month or two later that plan sits in a drawer and no one is using it to guide their action. This is total a waste of time and money.

If you’ve spent any time googling branding, or talking to marketing agencies, you know the landscape is completely overwhelming. There are so many terms for what seem to be the same thing, and so many people ready to sell you on their best solution.

Our Brand Planning approach offers a simplified, yet powerful approach.

Branding is all about defining who you are to your customer. The easiest way to think about it is in terms of a restaurant since we have all been to a variety of good ones with very different styles. If you were going to open a restaurant you would want to think first about your customers. Are they wealthy elites looking for a fine dining experience, or a lunchtime crowd looking for a great sandwich? What is the vibe they’d enjoy? How will the staff dress and greet the guests? This is all branding and while you may not be running a restaurant, your business needs similar elements if you are going to connect with your customers and prospects in a deeply authentic way.

A good brand will make your customers feel good and be loyal brand advocates.
